ART & FOREST LANDSCAPE IN THE CONFERENCE
During the event, you will be able to enjoy Freya Morgan’s art work. Freya Morgan’s art practice has taken the shape of an ongoing poetic investigation into threatened eco-systems. Freya is an environmental artist who will be travelling through Chile, studying the Southern Beeches (Nothofagaceae). The work will culminate in a publication and an outdoor sculptural installation at the Eden Project´s newly opened ´Wild Chile´site. The artist hopes to raise awareness of the lives of these threatened trees, current management and regeneration projects and their ancient Gondwanan lineage. Freya studied at the prestigious Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in London, and then went on to complete an unusual and innovative MA in Art and Environment at University College Falmouth, in Cornwall. KEYNOTE SPEAKERS INVITED
CONFERENCE FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
We have the pleasure to inform that the next bianual conference of the IUFRO Landscape Ecology Working Party will be held in Concepción Chile, between 5th and 12th November. This will be the first time that the Working Group will gather in Latin America.
Latin America offers new challenges to Forest Landscape Ecology due to its tremendous heterogeneity of ecosystems and diverse socioeconomic conditions. South American forests represent a large fraction of the world’s biodiversity and, in turn, are characterized by progressive deforestation and degradation. Particularly, Chile’s forest landscapes face substantial changes and play a significant role in sustaining humans.
We expect to see you in the next IUFRO Landscape Ecology Working Party conference titled: SUSTAINING HUMANS AND FORESTS IN CHANGING LANDSCAPES: Forests, Society and Global change.
Organizing Committee.
